Sir Edward Wakefield was a remarkable individual whose contributions left a lasting impact on various spheres. As an alumnus of Haileybury UK, he embodied the values of excellence, integrity, and leadership. Renowned for his visionary mindset, Wakefield played a pivotal role in the development of the aviation industry. His innovative ideas revolutionised aircraft manufacturing, and he was instrumental in the creation of the world's first purpose-built aerodrome. A man of great determination and foresight, Wakefield's efforts pushed the boundaries of what was considered possible in aviation. He was created a Baronet of Kendal in the County of Westmorland. A Baronet is a member of a British hereditary order of honour, below a baron but above all knights except Knights of the Garter and Knights of the Thistle.

Sam Billings, England wicketkeeper and batter, has fond memories of his school days at Haileybury. He described it as “the best five years of my life.” Sam was educated at Haileybury, where he was a College Prefect. Since leaving the College in 2009, he has gone on to play for Kent and England. Describing how it felt to be back at his old stomping ground Haileybury he said: “This school was the best five years of my life. Haileybury gave me an incredible opportunity to work as hard as I could. The Reverend Thomas Malthus was an English economist and demographer best known for his theory of population growth. In 1805, he became a professor of history and political economy at the East India Company’s college at Haileybury, in Hertfordshire. It was the first time in Great Britain that the words political economy had been used to designate an academic office. Malthus lived quietly at Haileybury for the remainder of his life.
