At this year's Duke of Edinburgh Awards, Simon O'Grady, the Founding Headmaster of Haileybury Bhaluka, was delighted to acknowledge the work of hundreds of Award Volunteers in Bangladesh. In building an eco-system, Haileybury Bhaluka is offering its extensive facilities and supporting fellow schools for practice expeditions, skills training and Award Leader conferences.

Simon O'Grady, Founding Headmaster of Haileybury Bhaluka, was delighted to meet Deputy Education Minister, Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury, to brief him on the forthcoming Bangladesh Safeguarding Summit.

The Bangladesh Strategy Summit 2023, presented by Valor of Bangladesh, brought together future-focused thought leaders, industry experts and innovators. With a theme of sustainability for growth, a highlight of the summit was the partnership forged with Haileybury Bhaluka, underscoring the importance of education as a driver of research, training, and knowledge collaboration.

Haileybury Bhaluka was honoured to welcome distinguished alumni from the class of 93, Mr. Miran Ali, the Vice President, BGMEA, the Managing Director, Bitopi Group and the founding member, Haileybury Guild at our offices for a very special 1-on-1 session. Mr. Miran Ali spoke on his experiences at Haileybury UK which helped him progress and find success in the life he leads today and how he believes that Haileybury Bhaluka can do the same for many bright young minds in Bangladesh.

Sir Edward Wakefield was a remarkable individual whose contributions left a lasting impact on various spheres. As an alumnus of Haileybury UK, he embodied the values of excellence, integrity, and leadership. Renowned for his visionary mindset, Wakefield played a pivotal role in the development of the aviation industry. His innovative ideas revolutionised aircraft manufacturing, and he was instrumental in the creation of the world's first purpose-built aerodrome. A man of great determination and foresight, Wakefield's efforts pushed the boundaries of what was considered possible in aviation. He was created a Baronet of Kendal in the County of Westmorland. A Baronet is a member of a British hereditary order of honour, below a baron but above all knights except Knights of the Garter and Knights of the Thistle.

Sam Billings, England wicketkeeper and batter, has fond memories of his school days at Haileybury. He described it as “the best five years of my life.” Sam was educated at Haileybury, where he was a College Prefect. Since leaving the College in 2009, he has gone on to play for Kent and England. Describing how it felt to be back at his old stomping ground Haileybury he said: “This school was the best five years of my life. Haileybury gave me an incredible opportunity to work as hard as I could.
